Winthrop never had a chance in this one, as the Gamecock bats battered four pitchers for 12 hits, 7 walks and 15 runs. USC scored two in the second as an LT Tolbert single and an error scored Jonah Bride and then Justin Row's single brought home Chris Cullen.The game really got out of control in the third, with the big blow being a grand slam from the bat of Hunter Taylor, while Tolbert had started the scoring that inning with a two-run single. Starter Logan Chapman and first out of the pen Gage Hinson combined to give just one run on four hits through the first six innings. Carolina continued to pile on runs, as Tolbert slammed his first longball of the year and USC scored in every inning but the first and fourth.TJ Shook, Parker Coyne and Hunter Lomas, a trio of freshmen, combined for three scoreless innings to close the game.
