Game Site: St. Louis, MO Game Synposis: The 11th seeded Gamecocks gave a scrappy performance that was almost enough to take down six seed Arkansas, but fell just short in a 69-64 loss. Forwards Chris Silva and Maik Kotsar led the scoring with 15 points each as USC was successful in slowing down Arkansas and forcing a lower scoring pace that benefitted the Gamecocks. The first half was largely controlled by the Razorbacks, as their lead reached seven early in the half. USC clawed back and tied the game at 26 on a 3-pointer by Felipe Haase, but a couple of Carolina fouls and a technical on Frank Martin in the final minute of the half let Arkansas expand the lead back to eight at the break. That lead would grow as large as 15 points early in the second but around the nine minute mark Carolina ran off an 8-0 run behind 3-pointers from Haase and Frank Booker to get back in the game. USC would get as close as two, as a pair of free throws by Silva made it 66-64 with 1:11 to go, but those would be the last Gamecock points.
