Game Site: Columbia, SC Game Synposis: Freshman Keyshawn Bryant was the star of the night as the Gamecocks opened the season with a 65-52 win over USC-Upstate. Bryant came off the bench to energize a sluggish Carolina offense, pouring in 21 points in 21 minutes. Classmate AJ Lawson added nine points as the two freshmen were some of the biggest highlights of the game. Carolina fell behind early, being down 9-2 before going on a 20-0 run that included seven points from Bryant. The Gamecockks struggled shooting from outisde, giong 0 for 18 on three point attempts, but used that first half run and winning the rebound battle 31-26 to get the win. Hassani Gravett (12) and Chris Silva (11) both had double figures in rebounds.
