2017 - Carolina continued its stunning run through the NCAA Tournament, blowing out favored Baylor 70-50 to make the school's first ever Elite Eight. The first twelve minutes were close but USC broke the game open with a 22-7 run to close out the first half. A three pointer from Duane Notice launched the run that put the Gamecocks up 37-22 at the break. A stifling USC defense held the Bears to a season-low shooting percentage of 25. The best Baylor could do was get the lead down to eleven midway through the second half, but Sindarius Thornwell and Notice hit back to back three pointers and USC never looked back. Thornwell led all scorers with 24 points while Chris Silva (12), PJ Dozier (12) and Notice (11) all finished the game in double figures.
1984 - The 14th ranked Gamecocks needed some extra inning magic to defeat Ohio State in '84. Starter Mike Cook pitched all ten innings for USC and going into the bottom of the tenth the two teams were knotted at three. Harvey Heise opened the inning with a walk then stole second after a fly out. Neil Fox was walked intentionally and the next batter, Kent Anderson, worked the count to 3-2 before lining a pitch deep into right field. Anderson's double scored Heise and gave Carolina a series victory over the Buckeyes, two games to one.
