Happy Birthday to Joel Seddon - The Gamecocks picked up Seddon in 2010 when he committed to USC over Wake Forest, Ohio State, Arizona and Vanderbilt. Baseball America's #1 prospect in Michigan, Seddon passed on a pro baseball deal after being drafted in the 20th round by the Blue Jays and enrolled at USC in the fall of 2012. He pitched sparingly in the spring of 2013, taking the mound just nine times, but going 2-0 with a 2.76 ERA. He got a win and a save in back to back outings as he pitched five shutout innings against UNC-Asheville for a victory, then picked up a save against Charleston Southern six days later by striking out the final batter of the game. Seddon slumped a little in 2013, recording a 4.50 ERA largely due to one rough outing against Arkansas. He rebounded with a strong junior season, pitching in 33 games and recording 15 saves with a sparkling 1.69 ERA. Seddon was named second team All-SEC that season then was drafted in the 11th round by the Oakland A's. He is currently pitching in Triple-A Nashville for the A's.
