Happy Birthday to Tim Lewis! From Norristown, PA, Lewis teamed with Earl Bass to give Carolina a dominant 1-2 punch in their rotation. After playing for former Phillies Hall of Famer Robin Roberts in high school, Lewis turned down the Dodgers to come to USC and was 4-1 with a 2.56 ERA as a freshman, but really blossomed in 1974, going 11-2 with a 2.29 ERA. As a junior he threw a no-hitter against Old Dominion and was 11-0 as the team reached the College World Series. Lewis' ERA was 1.82 that season. As a senior he won 10 more games and his 36 wins are second all-time at USC. Lewis pitched six years in the Yankees' system, going 45-37 with a 3.38 ERA. He was elected to the USC Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.
