# 5 South Carolina 1 , Fordham 0
Columbia, SC
#5 South Carolina, despite its lofty ranking, is one of the youngest teams in the nation this year, with 16 of its 22 players seeing action tonight being either freshmen or sophomores. Twenty-six minutes into the game two of those freshmen came up big, as Selma Sol Magnusdottir shot a pass to classmate Riley Tanner, who put the ball in the back of the net with a header. Tanner's goal, the first of her career and the first Gamecock goal of the season, would be the only one of this game, as Carolina defeated Fordham 1-0. Goalkeepers Mikayla Krzeczowski and Alexis McMullen kept the Rams off the scoreboard, with Krzeczowski playing the game's first seventy minutes and McMullen polishing off the final twenty. USC dominated the shooting, outshooting Fordham 10-3.
