| The #5 Gamecocks shutout South Florida at home in the 2018 opener despite not having All-American defender Grace Fisk and sharing time between two goaltenders. Two-time All-SEC goalkeeper Mikayla Krzeczowski started the game and didn't face a single shot on goal in her 45 minutes. Backup Alexis McMullen got the other 45 minutes and stopped the only three shots on goal the Bulls would have on the day. Carolina didn't fare much better than USF offensively, as only senior Simone Wark had a shot on goal. Wark had a pair of shots overall to lead the team. The Gamecocks played ten freshmen in the opener and of that group both Riley Tanner and Meredith Christopher had shots. Next up for Carolina is Fordham, who will visit USC next Friday at 7:00 pm. |
